Carrions
Riding on the storm
Through clouds of smoke
From fires
Down below
The slaughterfield unfolds
With mountains
Of corpses
An armored figure rises
Reflecting the sunlight
His features are ghoulish and pale
His heart a crimson black
Slowly he lifts his gaze to the sky
Steadying himself
He sings to the heavens
The home of ancestral bloodshed
He calls upon their favor
Upon their strength
The ancient deities of war
Goddess of the South
Let your eye go forth against those
Who oppress us in the kingdom
When it comes down from heaven
No human eye can be raised against it
Goddess of the East
Those who destroy as is their wont
And with their evil natures harm the righteous
May Soma give them over to the serpent
Or to your lap consign them

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once..... grote_smurf

Up until now this is my favorite Varathron release with it's perfect level of aggression and great variation. Let's see, if The Crimson Temple will be able to change that. mourner
Brooding black metal on Vendetta records, Svartmálm slow the genre’s core ingredients and add bracing emotional heft. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 20, 2018
