Solar Drone Ceremony

timmytherube Utterly bonkers, in the best possible sense. Imma go ahead and leave the genre tag blank for this one. How do you classify this? You can't. And I'm not going to be the fool who tries.

Camelus Dromedarius I once stared into the eye of a cicada, crossed my own eyes, blinked, and for the half second I was blinking, I was transported to the Solar Drone Ceremony. The psychedelic fog blinded much of my senses, but what little I could make out (besides the beautiful, but lunatic cultist women and the disturbing sentient arthropods), was the droning, hypnotic, and otherworldly auditory vibrations that enraptured every atom in that seemingly infinite hall.

bcb723 Everything about "Solar Drone Ceremony" is huge. And it's so fucking far out there... you have to have the patience to allow the music to completely takeover and become the walls around you during its near hour-long length. In Miles Davis terms - think of this as "Pangea" to the prior album's "Bitches Brew." Colossal.

P.S. - the vinyl from 8Merch has a dvd of the performance which is insane and so worth the shipping cost to the US.

Just Maz Eons was such an impressive and grand work that I worried when I saw this pop up so soon after. I needn't have. This song just carries you along from it's slow build to a phenomenal crescendo, it's everything I love about heavy music and once again the album art is fantastic.
Brad Underwood

Brad Underwood It's like the band Bong if they listened to a lot of Swans, which if you put those two together, you hang on the edge of your seat, especially in the second half. BRAVO!
Alex3301 thumbnail
Alex3301 Following from their overwhelming album Éons, Neptunian Maximalism are back with an absolutely insane and borderline transcendental 52 minute track, Solar Drone Ceremony. A truly other-worldly experience, with another very fitting album cover.

The Arkestra returns! One year after the release of “Éons”, a monumental triple album that shook up the entire metal underground in 2020, Belgium's mysterious collective known as NEPTUNIAN MAXIMALISM embarks on a new cosmic trip through the lands of drone doom metal, free jazz and psychedelic music... and this time you will be eyewitnesses of such a grandiose musical quest!
Recorded live in Brussels in March 2020 and wrapped in a stunning cover painting by French master Hervé Scott Flament, “Solar Drone Ceremony” is a 53-minute audio-visual odyssey documenting a band at its maximum splendor, working at full steam to pierce the veil of our narrow world and open new vistas on lush mental landscapes.

Available as a limited LP + DVD edition, the album is a remaking of the title-track from the band's first EP, “The Conference of the Stars”, here radically transfigured and expanded into something new, summing up NEPTUNIAN MAXIMALISM's style and adding to it not only the energy and intensity always palpable during a live show, but also an esoteric, immersive visual dimension that proves all the creativity these electric shamans are capable of.
From the smoky drone metal of Sunn O))) to the mystic ruminations of Sun Ra and the space accelerations of Hawkwind, “Solar Drone Ceremony” is a dark psychedelic ritual for the modern times, a ticket to ride for today's psychonauts.
