תַּחַת הַשָׁמֶ
UNDER THE SUN
Inspiration: Ecclesiastes 1:9, 1:14, 2:22, 3:15; Isaiah 24:19-20, 30:7, 48:12; Jeremiah 4:23
וְהִנֵּה הַכֹּל הֶבֶל
וּרְעוּת רוּחַ
וְאֵין כָּל־חָדָשׁ
תַּחַת הַשָׁמֶשׁ
And behold, all is vanity and a chasing after wind
There is nothing new under the sun
כִּי מֶה־הֹוֶה לָאָדָם
בְּכָל־עֲמָלֹו
וּבְרַעְיֹון לִבֹּו
שֶׁהוּא עָמֵל
What do mortals get from all the toil and strain with which they toil
הֶבֶל
וָרִיק
תַּחַת
הַשָׁמֶשׁ
Worthless and empty
Under the sun
That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already is
I am she, I am he, I am the first and I am the last
אָמֵן
Amen
רָאִיתִי
אֶת־הָאָרֶץ
וְהִנֵּה־תֹהוּ
תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ
I looked on the earth and it was waste, waste and void
רֹעָה הִתְרֹעֲעָה
הָאָרֶץ
פֹּור הִתְפֹּורְרָה
אֶרֶץ
The earth is utterly broken, the earth is torn asunder
מֹוט הִתְמֹוטְטָה
אָרֶץ
נֹועַ תָּנוּעַ
אֶרֶץ
The earth is violently shaken, the earth staggers
הֶבֶל וָרִיק
תַּחַת הַשָׁמֶשׁ
Worthless and empty
Under the sun
אָמֵן
Amen

עֵת לָמוּת
TIME TO DIE
Inspiration: Hebrew Bible (Psalms 22:6, 22:14-15, 22:17, 31:12, 38:5, 39:12, 139:11; Proverbs 30:16; Ecclesiastes 3:2, 3:15)
כַּמַּיִם
נִשְׁפַּכְתִּי
וְהִתְפָּרְדוּ
כָּל־עַצְמֹותָי
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint
הָיָה לִבִּי
כַּדֹּונָג
נָמֵס
בְּתֹוךְ מֵעָי
My heart is like wax, it is melted within my breast
יָבֵשׁ כַּחֶרֶשׂ
כֹּחִי
וּלְשֹׁונִי
מֻדְבָּק מַלְקֹוחָי
אֲסַפֵּר
כָּל־עַצְמֹותָי
וְלַעֲפַר־מָוֶת
תִּשְׁפְּתֵנִי
My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws
I can count all my bones
You lay me in the dust of death
עֵת לָלֶדֶת
וְעֵת לָמוּת
עֵת לַהֲרֹוג
וְעֵת לִרְפֹּוא
A time to be born, and a time to die
A time to kill, and a time to heal
וְאָנֹכִי תֹולַעַת
וְלֹא־אִישׁ
חֶרְפַּת אָדָם
וּבְזוּי עָם
נִשְׁכַּחְתִּי
כְּמֵת מִלֵּב
הִבְאִישׁוּ נָמַקּוּ
חַבּוּרֹתָי
But I am a worm, and not human, scorned by others, and despised by the people
I have passed out of mind like one who is dead
My wounds grow foul and fester
שִׁמְעָה
תְפִלָּתִי
Hear my prayer
תָּם־אָנִי
לֹא־אֵדַע
נַפְשִׁי
אֶמְאַס חַיָּי
I am blameless, I do not know myself, I loathe my life
אַךְ־חֹשֶׁךְ
יְשׁוּפֵנִי
וְלַיְלָה
אֹור בַּעֲדֵנִי
Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light around me shall become night
עֹצֶר רָחַם
אֶרֶץ
לֹא־שָׂבְעָה
מַּיִם
The barren womb, the earth ever thirsty for water
מַה־שֶּׁהָיָה כְּבָר הוּא
וַאֲשֶׁר לִהְיֹות כְּבָ֣ר הָיָה
That which is, already has been and that which is to be, already is
אָמֵן
Amen

מָחַצְתִּי וַאֲנִי אֶרְפָּא
I WOUND AND I HEAL
Inspiration: Hebrew Bible (Deuteronomy 28:26, 32:39; 2 Samuel 1:9, 22:5-6; Job 2:4, 9:22, 9:24; Isaiah 26:19; Psalms 41:13, 107:10)
אֲנִי אָמִית
וַאֲחַיֶּה
מָחַצְתִּי
וַאֲנִי אֶרְפָּא
I kill and I make alive, I wound and I heal
עֲמָד־נָא עָלַי
וּמֹתְתֵנִי
וְהָיְתָה נְבֵלָתִי
לְמַאֲכָל
לְכָל־עֹוף
הַשָּׁמַיִם
וּלְבֶהֱמַת
הָאָרֶץ
Stand over me and kill me
And my corpse shall be food for every bird of the air and animal of the earth
עֹור בְּעַד־עֹור
תָּם וְרָשָׁע
אֲנִי מְכַלֶּה
עֹור בְּעַד־עֹור
Skin for skin
I destroy the blameless and the wicked
Skin for skin
אֲנִי אָמִית
וַאֲחַיֶּה
מָחַצְתִּי
וַאֲנִי אֶרְפָּא
I kill and I make alive, I wound and I heal
כִּי אֲפָפֻנִי
מִשְׁבְּרֵי־מָוֶת
נַחֲלֵי בְלִיַּעַל
יְבַעֲתֻנִי
חֶבְלֵי שֶׁמֶשׁ
סַבֻּנִי
קִדְּמֻנִי
מֹקְשֵׁי־מָוֶת
For the waves of death encompassed me, the torrents of perdition assailed me
The cords of the sun entangled me, the snares of death confronted me
אֶרֶץ נִתְּנָה
בְּיַד־רָשָׁע
מִבֶּטֶן
לַקֶּבֶר אוּבָל
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked
I will be carried from the womb to the grave
אֲנִי אָמִית
וַאֲחַיֶּה
מָחַצְתִּי
וַאֲנִי אֶרְפָּא
I kill and I make alive, I wound and I heal
אֲסִירֵי עֹנִי
וּבַרְזֶל
מֵהָעֹולָם
וְעַד הָעֹולָם
Bound in misery and chains
From everlasting to everlasting
אָמֵן
Amen

דָּם
וָאֵשׁ
וְתִימֲרֹות
עָשָן
Blood and fire and columns of smoke
בּוּקָה וּמְבוּקָה
וְלֵב נָמֵס
וּפִק בִּרְכַּיִם
Devastation and desolation
Hearts faint and knees tremble
בּוּקָה וּמְבוּקָה
וּמְבֻלָּקָה
Devastation, desolation, and destruction
וְרֹב חָלָל
וְכֹבֶד פָּגֶר
וְאֵין קֵצֶה
לַגְּוִיָּה
Piles of dead, heaps of corpses, dead bodies without end
אָסֹף אָסֵף כֹּל
אָסֹף אָסֵף כֹּל
מֵעַל פְּנֵי
הָאֲדָמָה
I will utterly sweep away everything, I will utterly sweep away everything from he face of the earth
כִּי אַתֶּם
לֹא עַמִּי
וְאָנֹכִי
לֹא־אֶהְיֶה לָכֶם
For you are not my people and I am not your God (Ehyeh)
בּוּקָה וּמְבוּקָה
וּמְבֻלָּקָה
Devastation, desolation, and destruction
בּוּקָה וּמְבוּקָה
וּמְבֻלָּקָה
Devastation, desolation, and destruction
בּוּקָה וּמְבוּקָה
בּוּקָה וּמְבוּקָה
Devastation and desolation
Devastation and desolation

Μέθαι καὶ φαρμακεία
DRUNKENNES AND SORCERY
Inspiration: New Testament (Matthew 5:18, 7:9, 19:12, 24:6; Luke 1:42, 8:29, 11:11-12, 11:50; John 5:24, 16:20, 16:33, 19:7; Acts 10:10; Romans 4:14; 1 Corinthians 3:13; Galatians 2:21, 5:19-21; Philippians 2:10; 2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 Timothy 6:7; 2 Timothy 2:17; James 1:27, 4:4; 2 Peter 1:12, 2:17, 2:22)
Ἠλαύνομην ἀπὸ τοῦ λαοῦ
Εἰς τὰς ἐρήμους
Ὅπου ἐγένετο
Ἐπ’ ἐμαυτὸν ἔκστασις
I was driven by people into the wilds
Where I fell into a trance
Ἐν πυρὶ φλογός
Ἀποκαλύπτεται
Ὅτι δεῖ με ἄσπιλον
Ἐμαυτὸν τηρῆσαί
Ἀπὸ τοῦ κόσμου
Ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος
Καίτοιγε δωρεάν
Ὀφείλω ἀποθανεῖν
In flaming fire it is revealed
That I must keep myself unstained by the world, by the blood
Although I am bound to die for nothing
Οὐδὲν γάρ
Εἰσηνέγκας
Εἰς τὸν κόσμον
Ὁ ζόφος
Τοῦ σκότους
Ἐμοὶ τετήρηται
For I brought nothing into the world
Blackest darkness is reserved for me
Μεταβήσω ἐκ τῆς ζωῆς
Εἰς τὸν θάνατον
I will pass from life to death
Ἀμήν
Amen
Friendship with the world is enmity against the void
At its name every knee should bow
Drunkenness, sorcery, impurity
My teaching will spread like gangrene
Τὸ αἷμα
Τὸ ἐκκεχυμένον
Ἀπὸ καταβολῆς
Κόσμου
Ὁ δυνάμενος
Πίνειν πινέτω
The blood shed since the foundation of the world
Let him who is able to drink it drink
Μεταβέβηκα ἐκ τῆς ζωῆς
Εἰς τὸν θάνατον
I have passed from life to death
Ἀμήν
Amen
Ἄνθρωπος
Ἐπιστρέψας
Ἐπὶ τὸ ἴδιον
Ἐξέραμα
A man turns back to his own vomit
-
Ὁ ἄνθρωπος
-
Ἐκεῖνος
-
Ἐγώ
-
Εἰμί
I am that man
Ἀντὶ ἰχθύος
Ὄφιν ἐπιδώσω σοι
Καὶ ἀντὶ ἄρτου
Λίθον ἐπιδώσω σοι
Instead of a fish I will give you a snake
And instead of bread I will give you a stone
Ἀμήν
Λέγω ὑμῖν
Εὐλογημένος
Ὁ καρπὸς τοῦ κενοῦ
Truly I tell you
Blessed is the fruit of the void
Κλαύσω καὶ θρηνήσω
Λυπηθήσομαι
Ὁ δὲ κόσμος
Χαρήσεται
Ἐγὼ νενίκηκα
Τὸν κόσμον
Καὶ νενίκηκα
Τοὺς ἀνθρώπους
I will weep and mourn, I will have pain but the world will rejoice
I have overcome the world and I have overcome mankind
Ἀμήν
Amen

Οὐθέν εἰμι
I AM NOTHING
Inspiration: New Testament (Matthew 24:29; John 17:14; Acts 1:18, 2:17, 20:26; Romans 7:25, 3:13-17; 1 Corinthians 13:2)
Οὐθέν εἰμι
Καὶ οὐθὲν ἔσομαι
I am nothing and I will be nothing
Ὁ ἥλιος
Σκοτισθήσεται
Ἡ σελήνη οὐ δώσει
Τὸ φέγγος αὐτῆς
Οἱ ἀστέρες πεσοῦνται
Ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ
Αἱ δυνάμεις τῶν οὐρανῶν
Σαλευθήσονται
The sun will be darkened
The moon will not give its light
The stars will fall from the heaven
The powers of the heavens will be shaken
Tῇ σαρκὶ δουλεύω
Νόμῳ ἁμαρτίας
With the flesh I serve the law of sin
Τάφος ἀνεῳγμένος
Ὁ λάρυγξ μου
Ταῖς γλώσσῃ μου
Ἐδολιοῦσα
Ἰὸς ἀσπίδων
Ὑπὸ τὰ χείλη μου
Τὸ στόμα μου ἀρᾶς
Καὶ πικρίας γέμει
My tongue practices deceit
My throat is an open grave
The poison of vipers is on my lips
My mouth is full of cursing and bitterness
Καθαρός εἰμι
Ἀπὸ τοῦ αἵματος πάντων
I am innocent from the blood of all
Σύντριμμα καὶ ταλαιπωρία
Ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς μου
Ἔστιν φόβος ἀπέναντι
Τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν μου
Ruin and misery mark my ways
There is fear before my eyes
Πρηνὴς γενόμενος
Ἐλάκησα μέσος
Καὶ ἐξεχύθην
Πάντα τὰ σπλάγχνα
Ἐκχεῶ
Ἀπὸ τοῦ πνεύματος μου
Ἐπὶ πᾶσαν σάρκα
Ἐπὶ τὸν κόσμον
Having fallen headlong, I burst asunder in the midst and all my intestines gushed forth
I will pour out my spirit on all flesh, on the world
Ἐγὼ οὐκ εἰμὶ
Ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου
Οὐθέν εἰμι
Καὶ οὐθὲν ἔσομαι
I am not of the world
I am nothing and I will be nothing
Ἀμήν
Amen

Ὁ ἥλιος
Ἀνέτειλεν
Σὺν τῷ καύσωνι
Καὶ ἐξήρανεν
Τὸν χόρτον
Τὸ ἄνθος αὐτοῦ
Ἐξέπεσεν
Ἡ εὐπρέπεια
Τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ
Ἀπώλετο
The sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the field
Its flower falls, its beauty perishes
Οὐαί
Τῷ κόσμῳ
Γέμει
Ὀστέων
Νεκρῶν
Καὶ πάσης
-
Ἀκαθαρσίας
Woe to the world
It is full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean
Ἀμήν
Amen
Οἱ οὐρανοί
Ῥοιζηδόν
Παρελεύσονται
Στοιχεῖα
Λυθήσεται
Ἅγιον
Τὸ κενόν
Τὸ ἦν
Καὶ τὸ ὢν
Καὶ τὸ ἐρχόμενος
The heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will be dissolved
Holy, holy is the void that was and is and is to come
Ἀμήν
Amen
Ἐμοί ἔστιν
Ἡ πάλη
Πρὸς σάρκα μου
Καὶ αἷμα μου
My struggle is against my flesh and my blood
Οὐ
Μαίνομαι
Εἶδον
Τὸ κενόν
Οὗ ἀπό
Τοῦ προσώπου
Ἔφυγεν
Ἡ γῆ
Καὶ ὁ οὐρανός
Καὶ τόπος
Οὐχ εὑρέθη
Αὐτοῖς
I am not insane
I saw the void
The earth and the heaven fled from its presence, and no place was found for them
Ἀπ’ ἀρχῆς
Κόσμου
Ἕως ἐσχάτου
Τῶν χρόνων
Since the beginning of the world
Until the end of the ages
Πόνος
Καὶ αἷμα
Καὶ μῖσος

Pain and blood and hatred and fire
Καὶ κακίᾳ
Καὶ φόνου

Ἄνθρωπος
Ταλαίπωρος εἰμι
I am a wretched man
Ἐμπαίζετε μοι
Ἐμπτύετε μοι
Μαστιγοῦτε με
Κολαφίζετε με
You mock me
You spit upon me
You flog me
You strike me
Καὶ μετὰ
Τρεῖς ἡμέρας
Νεκρὸς
Ἔσομαι
And after three days I will be dead
Πεσὼν
Καὶ γενόμενος
Σκωληκόβρωτος
Ἐξέψυξα
Having fallen down and having been eaten by worms, I breathed my last
-
Ἐξέψυξα
-
Ἐξέψυξα
I breathed my last, I breathed my last
Ἀμήν
Amen
Πέπεισμαι
Ὅτι
Οὔτε θάνατος
Οὔτε ζωὴ
I am convinced that neither death, nor life
Οὔτε ἐνεστῶτα
Οὔτε μέλλοντα
Nor things present, nor things to come
Δυνήσεται
Ἡμᾶς
Χωρίσαι
Ἀπὸ του κενοῦ
Will be able to separate us from the void
Εἰπὲ
Τῷ ἄρτῳ τούτῳ
Ἵνα γένηται
Λίθος
Speak to this loaf of bread, so that it may become a stone
Ὁ λίθος
Προσκόμματος
Ἡ πέτρα
Σκανδάλου
The stone of stumbling, the rock of offense
Τάδε λέγει
Ὁ Ἀμήν
Ἡ ἀρχὴ
Τῆς κτίσεως
The words of the Amen, the beginning of creation
Τάδε λέγει
Ὁ Ἀμήν
Ἡ ἀρχὴ
Καὶ τὸ τέλος
The words of the Amen, the beginning and the end
Ἀμήν
Amen
